We are starting a new unit on Tuesday on stories from the oral tradition of storytelling. All students will need their books. We are also working poetry warmups into our lessons. Each day we will concentrate on a different aspect of poetic technique. This week it is figurative language to include simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, and idiom. Look for the figurative language notes in your child's binder!

We are continuing our reading response logs, and they are due on February 14th. To jog our students' memories about the due date, they are colored light pink. Please make sure your child is reading every night and working on the response log. There are three grades associated with the reading. One is for the reading response, one is for the vocabulary response, and the third is for the AR quiz.

Hello Everyone! Sorry I dropped the ball on the homework blog. I just assigned a reading response log. It's easy to spot, because it is pink. We went to the library yesterday, January 31st, and we checked out new library books. Every students should have an AR book to use to complete this assignment. It is due on Valentine's day, February 14th (hence the pink color). Please make sure your child is reading every night.
